April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month

WorldParkinsonDay

Did you know the month of April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month and April 11th is World Parkinson’s Day? Every year, the Parkinson’s Foundation uses the month of April to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease. This year, the specific focus is on all the available resources the foundation has developed for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones. Their hashtag, “#KnowMorePD, speaks to their desire to provide resources to those affected by Parkinson’s directly or indirectly.

To spread the word about Parkinson’s awareness, the foundation has developed a Know More PD Quiz. By taking this quiz, you not only get to test your knowledge of Parkinson’s disease, but you are also entered into a drawing to win a $25 Amazon gift card or the grand prize of a new Kindle Paperwhite preloaded with the foundation’s 12 educational books on PD.

In addition to their quiz, the Parkinson’s Foundation is also offering virtual Parkinson’s-related events. There are various events being offered that range from supporting one another, caring for a loved one with Parkinson’s, all the way to wellness and fitness. If events are not your thing, the foundation is also offering information on their Parkinson’s podcast and their extensive library of Parkinson’s resources.

The Parkinson’s Foundation was formed by a merger between the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) and the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF). The foundation works to provide support to people with Parkinson’s and their families, fund research, and find new approaches to care. For more information, see the Parkinson’s Foundation website.
